Whilst June was characterised by the rainy season and cancelled games because of rain, July saw the change from wet to extreme heat and the first match cancelled because of dangerous temperatures – on a day that all matches in Sano were called off by the JCA. Two fantastic wins on the trot means the 2nd XI finished a tough season on a high. Tokyo Titans were beaten by 13 runs and then MIB, by 28 runs. Great to back to winning ways. Well done everyone! [Anton]
After a few mid-term hiccups, the 1st XI really turned on the style to beat Paddy Foleys by a whopping 188 runs. Amont the many highlights were Doogs’ 122 and Freddy’s 6/23. An awesome performance right when we needed it.
Our strong start to the 2023 season continues with the 1st XI beating our ancient adverseries Wombats by 58 runs down at Fuji. It was a great, dogged, patient all round performance, worthy of the Shearer-Thurgate Cup which stays in our hands. Well played guys. [Anton]
Takady’s T20ers made a great start to our 2023 Japan Cup campaign with a thumping win over Tsukuba Vikings. Runs from Takady (42), Doogs (44) and Tipu (21) were backed up by wickets across the attack for a superb team win by 71 runs. Good stuff! [Anton]
Wild, wet and windy weather meant that both XIs matches were cancelled last Saturday. It’s a shame because we had two strong sides ready to go. Never mind, we’ll keep our powder dry for May. Next up is Japan Cup [Anton]
The season opened with the 1st XI blasting through a middle order fightback to beat Rising Stars by a healthy 28 runs. No such luck for the 2s though. Facing KKR’s 1st XI, we never got going with the bat but took a few wickets defending our small total. Good signs though. [Anton]

Ash Thurgate smashed a 50 ball century today for MY-Ys Under 19s. 10 X 4s, 9 x 60’s, so just 6 runs to trot up and down the wicket. Very relaxing afternoon. Great stuff Ash and congratulations! [Anton]
The Sharks were just on the wrong side of a very close result in the JCLT20 Grand Final. A very solid demolition of Falcons in the Semi put us in good stead but Paddy’s just clipped us in the Final with a ball to spare. Good effort Sharks! [Anton]
