Due to concerns over any kind of large gatherings in the coronavirus outbreak we have decided to cancel our T20 friendlies with the Tokyo Rhinos on the 29th March. Hopefully the regular season will still go ahead but we’ve had no news as yet. [Anton]
The Sharks wish an unseasonably warm welcome home from South Africa to our U19 cohort. Very, very well played you young men. We’ve followed your exploits all the way and are immensely proud of how you’ve played and what you have done for cricket in this country. [Anton]
Of the 15 U19 players selected to contest the World Cup in South Africa next year, no less than 9 are Chiba Sharks players, including the Captain, Marcus Thurgate. Well done to all involved especially those who put endless hours into the My-Ys and other youth teams. [Anton]
Congratulations to 1st XI skipper Dhugal Bedingfield for picking up 2019’s Best Batsman Award at the recent JCA Awards in Tokyo. 419 runs and a 59.7 average is evidence of another outstanding season for the elegant Aussie opener. Same again in 2020 please. [Anton]
In a tightly contested final at SICG, the 1st XI pulled out all the stops to beat MAX CC and become 2019 JCL Champions. Congratulations to Captain Bedingfield and his valiant crew and everyone else in the club. Report soon [Anton]
A tightly fought, low scoring semi final up at SICG vs Tigers went our way today and by a decent margin in the end. Second final in two years. Well done Chiba Sharks 1st XI. [Anton]
The 1st XI swaggered into the semi finals last weekend with a complete demolition of long time rivals the Wombats. There were good performances all round as the 1s won by almost 200 runs. Report soon. [Anton]
Superb batting from Ash and Deba set up a crucial victory against Adore on Sunday to assure us of JCL2 cricket again next season. What a great way to bring our Div 2 campaign to close. Report soon [Anton]
The JCL1 and 2 regular seasons are coming to close. The Super 2s will be looking to retain JCL2 survival vs Adore while the 1st XI will look to cement a semi place against Wombats. Good luck all.
