Sharkies Doing the Do vs Men in Blue

JCL1 R7 Sharks vs MIB at Sano 1
By Tsuyoshi Takada

The forecast said rain would come at 2 o’clock. It was JCL Round 7, and we were facing MIB at Sano1. We couldn’t lose anymore to stay in the top 4.
Young legend Kendel Fleming came from Australia to help out Part-time captain Takady who won the toss (but had never won a game as Captain though) to bowl them out (to leave the ground before rain come)

Return of the Viv

Bowling

Jimmy Matsumura and Muneeb Disco Siddique opened. It was teh best start for the Sharks this season with MIB at 4 for 19 in just the first 10 overs with 6 maidens.
The middle overs were taken by, Neel, Mystery, Yugi and Viv (back from injury). Neel and Mystery took 1 wkt each but MIB kept putting runs on the scoreboard. MIB were 6 for 78 after 20.
After 30 overs, drizzling and humidity on the ground made the bowlers lose a bit of grip and control. We gave 18 extras an early summer gift to MIB.
MIB finished at 9 for 174

Batting

In reply, Takady sent Kendel and Viv onto the pitch to finish the match….but it didn’t work. Unfortunately, Kendel and Viv got out early on without either making a big score.
The Sharks lost 5 wkts before reaching 100 runs but the Big Jamaican, Clampa smashed MIB in his own style. Slowly but surely, Clampa built runs on the board with Neel and established a 34 run partnership.
After Neel left, the best batsman in university league, Jimmy, made a quick 35 runs off 30 balls in another good partnership of 53 from 51 balls with Clampa. Jimmy put in a great all-rounder’s performance.
Eventually, the Sharks successfully chased down the 175 runs in 37 overs and moved up to 3rd place on the ladder.

Many thanks to MIB for a spirited game and to the Wombats for sending umpires.
